Header Warranty

Sanderson Header WarrantyLimited 5-Year General Warranty

Sanderson Street Rod Headers strives to supply our customers with the highest quality parts and services in the street rod industry. In keeping with this, we warrant and will repair or replace, at our option, after an inspection in our facility, any of our products that we found to have failed due to defects in either material or workmanship.  This warranty is activated by the return of the Warranty Card enclosed with every pair of headers. It is effective for FIVE YEARS * from the date of purchase, as indicated on the original invoice.

This Warranty does not cover products that fail due to improper motor tuning, alteration, disassembly, or damage caused by racing, misuse, neglect, abuse, improper installation, and/or accident or when used on applications that were not designed or approved. We are specifically not responsible for the costs of removal, installation, transportation, destruction of other components, inconvenience, loss of time, or other personal damages or for any other associated costs, including the application of aftermarket coatings applied by others. Sanderson Street Rod Headers shall not be liable for any and all consequential damages occasioned by the breach of any written or implied warranty pertaining to this sale in excess of the purchase price of the product(s) as found on the original invoice.

WRAPPING HEADERS WITH THERMAL TAPE VOIDS THE WARRANTY.

* Extremely compact header designs that locate the collector close to the exhaust ports are very sensitive to engine tuning. Improper air/fuel mix or timing of ignition and/or valvetrain can cause early failure due to excessive heat. For this reason,  part numbers CC2 and CC3 are offered with a two-year warranty period only. This includes header sets that utilize one of these headers as part of the set (part numbers CC4 and CC14, for example). The compact header side will hold a 2-year warranty. All other Warranty conditions apply.

Installation Notes

  1. The Patented Leak-Free Design on Sanderson Headers provides the only leak-free flange design on the market … Do Not Attempt To Use Flange Gaskets! The raised flange on tube-style Sanderson Headers will buckle the gasket during tightening and cause a leak!  It is only OK to use a header gasket on the cast-series header sets (QP1000 and QP2000) Click here for the header installation procedure.
  2. Sanderson Headers are NOT emissions legal on pollution-controlled motor vehicles. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to verify local regulations for compliance.
  3. Wrapping Sanderson Headers with ANY thermal tape voids the header warranty. Our Aluminized Ceramic Coating is the best thermal protection for your headers and is available for every Sanderson Header. For additional information on why using header wraps is a problem, please read this tech article by Century Performance Center which addresses thermal coatings and header wraps.

SB Ford Flanges

UPDATE: The Sanderson small block Ford header flange has been redesigned to accommodate standard rectangular and square exhaust port designs. This new flange port opening is slightly wider, and the height is reduced somewhat. This change provides compatibility and proper sealing with more small block Ford cylinder head designs. It is compatible with 2.0″ mounting bolt spacing. Sanderson also offers a custom header flange with 3.0″ bolt spacing for an additional cost.

Factory, original equipment style Ford cylinder heads, and most aftermarket heads use a 2.0″ bolt spacing, measured across the port (see images below). Some aftermarket small block Ford cylinder heads include both the 2.0″ and 3.0″ bolt spacing, but Roush heads (SB427, for example) only use the 3.0″ bolt spacing.

The first cylinder head below is the BluePrint for small block Ford, and the second is an Edelbrock Victor Jr. cylinder head for small block Ford. Note the differences in flange bolt spacing. Even when a cylinder head offers both the 2.0″ and 3.0″ spacing, it is best to stick with the 2.0″ spacing for all but the most extreme engine applications with substantial port opening width.

Flange Issues with the 3.0″ bolt spacing:

The 3.0″ bolt spacing is a problem for thick-flange header sets because it makes installing the spark plugs virtually impossible, as shown in the images below. Typically, only header sets built with thinner 1/4″ – 3/16″ flanges are compatible with the 3.0″ bolt spacing. Sanderson now offers an optional, custom 3/8″ thick flange for the wider 3.0″ bolt spacing, which is available at an additional cost.
